An essay discussing my views on Identity in digital systems. Semi-technical, but includes an introduction targeted at a general audience. I argue against centralization and online-only systems, based on some simple assumptions regarding the agents in the system. I favor pseudonyms/anonymity as the best tradeoff for a secure identity system.
